Our core technology: droplet-based microfluidics

Microfluidics dramatically reduces reaction volume, time and costs. We have compared these aspects considering a screen for enzyme activity using a robotic microtitre plate-based system and a droplet-based microfluidic system. Screening 50 million reactions would take 2 years and nearly 16 million on a conventional robot, while droplet-based microfluidics makes it feasible in one day for $2.5 (see this article for details).

Similar improvements have been seen previously with microprocessors and this has led to completely new and unexpected applications; microfluidics should also have unexpected new applications.
